Form IV : Boston: Home

Assignment

Essential Question:

Between 1763 and 1775 Boston was at the center of the colonies’ struggle for independence.

How does the notion of liberty or freedom connect to your chosen site?  As you think about how you might define liberation, or freedom, think about it in all its various incarnations (political freedom, spiritual freedom, personal freedom etc.) before settling on one or on some compelling combination.

Description:

You will work in small groups of 3-4 to explore the impact of race, class, gender, and sexuality on events that happened in Boston during the War of independence and into the 19th century, and to highlight voices and experiences beyond the "founding fathers" mythology.
